The Three Eclipses of the Bible and What They Mean

Our eyes come across three eclipses in the Bible.

The first one is when God judged Egypt for mistreating His children. This was one of the ninth of ten plagues... the final one before total rejection.

"So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days" (Exodus 10:22).

The second is the glorious one when Jesus is on the cross and the wrath of God for our sin is placed on Him. This darkness too lasted three hours. IN this time, God's wrath, the judgment for the sins of humanity was placed upon Jesus and He died in our place.

"Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour" (Matthew 27:45).

The third eclipse mentioned is yet to come. In several places the Bible foretells a time when God’s wrath will be poured out on the earth and there will not be an eclipse of just a small section but the whole earth. This will mark a time of great judgment and tribulation.

"Before them the earth quakes, The heavens tremble, The sun and the moon grow dark And the stars lose their brightness" (Joel 2:10; See also, Matthew 24:29, Revelation 6:12).

Each of these 3 are designed to help everyone on earth to take note, there are things you cannot control, like sun and moon and stars. There is a God Who controls all things and Who will judge all humanity.

So, how can you prepare? Joel says, repent and turn to the Lord. Precisely: YOU NEED TO GRASP THAT SECOND ECLIPSE for yourself.

God’s Judgment was placed on Jesus so you could go free! Repent of sin and trust in Christ as the Lamb of God Who took away your Judgment on the cross.

So lift your eyes today to the Son of God and find forgiveness.
