In today's Scripture reading God demonstrates His power over sin, and slavery as He delivers His people of Israel from Egypt. He institutes a commemoration of that deliverance in the Passover meal. "This is a day to remember forever -- the day you left Egypt, the place of your slavery. Today the Lord has brought you out by the power of His mighty hand" (Exodus 13:3). What a glorious truth that God is a deliverer! He delivers from Egypt, yes, but today He offers all deliverance from slavery to sin. You may wonder who owns it all. The wealth of the nations is a big topic, and who owns or controls that wealth is an even bigger topic. But it's one that the Bible answers pretty easily. God owns it all. I love Psalm 24 1The earth is the LORD’S, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it. 2For He has founded it upon the seas And established it upon the rivers. Because God owns you and me and everything in between, we know He cares for it. He wants you to know Him through Jesus Christ and have eternal fellowship with Him. Love Him today!

Why did Jesus come to earth? He didn't need to, that's for sure. Humanity departed from God's clear commands from the beginning, choosing our own way. And we have ever since. But He came. Not to condemn us. He came to serve. Today's reading gives so many glimpses of this. As the firstborn son is the sacrifice for the family to live in Egypt, so Jesus is the sacrifice for all of us to live in God's family. And that is exactly why Jesus came... in His own words: "The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give His life as a ransom for many." Jesus came to serve us - to give His life as a sacrifice in our place. Let us take today to serve Him and others, following in the footsteps of our Savior! You've heard the phrase "The devil is in the details." Well, often not following through with details can come back to bite you. But I like to remember that #GOD is very much in every detail of your life. I can rest in that for sure! He knows every detail there is to know. Not only does He number every star... Are you feeling inadequate to do what God has called you to do? That’s a good feeling because you are inadequate. In today’s Bible reading I was struck by Moses saying this for the 3rd time. "Lord, I can’t do this because I’m not a good speaker. They are not going to listen." God said - I made your tongue the way it is. I know you are inadequate, let me show you my power through using any vessel I please to do my work. This is my work. I will show my power. God is the One Who does the work - we just put our little gift in His hand and watch Him do the work and get the glory. “But Lord!” Moses objected. “My own people won’t listen to me anymore. How can I expect Pharaoh to listen? I’m such a clumsy speaker” (Exodus 6:12 NLT)! When the Lord spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt, He said to him, “I am the Lord! Tell Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, everything I am telling you.” But Moses argued with the Lord, saying, “I can’t do it! I’m such a clumsy speaker! Why should Pharaoh listen

There are so many glorious truths from our Bible reading today! God uses Moses even when he felt like he was too insignificant and untalented... He felt like he was not a gifted speaker. But God reminds Moses that He made him as he is and if God wants to use him like that, he sure can! In Matthew we are encouraged by how God takes care of the children and the truth that these children always have angels who appear before His heavenly Father. This is a good and glorious truth! Especially for parents. “Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father" (Matthew 18:10). But a couple times in this same days' reading we are taught that the Lord sees us and that the Lord is always with us. So, whether its angels or the Lord Himself. In today's Bible reading, God reveals His name to Moses. "But Moses protested, “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?” God replied to Moses, “I Am Who I Am. Say this to the people of Israel: I Am has sent me to you.” God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you. This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations" (Exodus 3:13–15; NLT). God's glorious name shows that He always is. He is the self-existent Triune God Who always has been and always will be. In fact, as it has been said, "He always has been what He always will be." So He is eternal never changing, un-needy (self-sufficient), glorious God. He epitomizes the idea of existence. What a glorious God is the I AM, Yahweh. Glorify Him today. To

I like to say living the Christian life is impossible...ly-easy. Its impossible in that its taking up a cross - dying to your own way of living: "Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it'" (Matthew 16:24-25). That is what God calls us to as we follow Jesus to the cross. That's impossible in your own strength. And trying to do that on your own will not take you to heaven. It is legalism. But He also pictures it as a yoke - where He is carrying that load. “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30). What do you have that you must keep safe more than any other possession? Your heart. Proverbs 4 cautions us: "Guard your heart above all else For it determines the course of your life" (Proverbs 4:23). Your life flows from that heart. Its like a water source in an ancient city that must be guarded well. If it is poisoned, the whole community is poisoned. What are some poisons that satan uses to harm our inner person, our heart? What are some ways we can keep it guarded well? That's a good idea to meditate on and even to pray about today. "Lord, please, keep my heart!" So ask the Lord today to keep your heart in His hands. It's so encouraging to hear how the Lord gave Peter strength to walk on water. He called him, and Peter came. And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus" (Matthew 14:29). Of course, he sank too... as he got his eyes off of Jesus. But the calling our Lord had for him was able to be carried out as he kept his eyes on Jesus. In a very similar way, we have no business walking the Christian walk without Christ strengthening us every step of the way. We can't live that way on our own. We need Him! David speaks about finding joy in God as his inheritance. Those boundary lines were pleasant to him. What a great picture of joy in God. What do we have that is important? Our God. Jacob returns to Bethel with the promise of God, with a commitment to God. But also with many problems and perplexing situations. How does He square that with the promises of God that are so great in that place? -- with the revelation that God is... God Almighty! During your perplexing times, turn to God of Bethel, the God Who is El-Shaddai.

There are millions of decisions to make. More than you can count! So how do we find the right pathway in life? We must seek wisdom from above. And that path is God's Word, the #Bible . Be sure to be in God's Word every day!

Who does God lift up? Who does He exalt? Those who humble themselves before Him. The key to that is viewing His glory. As we see how great God is, we get on our knees and cry - "Glory to God!"

Don’t Trade God’s Best for a Bowl of Beans Esau came back from the hunt famished. He smelled Jacobs stew and his lust for savory food outweighed his desire for his Father’s inheritance. So he traded His birthright for a bowl of beans! That was God’s great blessing through his dad. Don’t let your lusts for pleasure outshine your love for God and HIs best desires in your life today. Don’t trade God’s best for a bowl of beans.

You have so many concerns as you plan the whole New Year. Let me remind you that you take each of these concerns and each of these pressures one day at a time. Remember Jesus’ encouragement - Your Heavenly Father knows all your needs! S o don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. Trust the Lord today and leave tomorrow in His hands. Matthew 6:31 –34 (NLT) “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Does God speak in the storm? At times, His voice is likened to the thunder. But as God spoke to the despondent prophet, Elijah, He shared His message in a quiet whisper. Open the Bible today and listen to the voice of God in your ears. May His Word work powerfully in your heart through the stillness of the printed page. “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. - When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” (1 Kings 19:11–13 NLT)

What an encouraging truth Hagar discovered - God sees you. He knows what you are going through even if no one else does. Don't keep those trails from Him. Bring them to Him and let Him take away your burden.   He sees us, that comforts us! His eyes are in every place. That also challenges us to live according to HIs Word..Come to God in Christ and find a permanent refuge.  

God is our refuge. This has reference to something that will shield you from the elements.  We need that in life. As storms come and batter our lives.  We need the Lord to strengthen and sustain us. Psalm 46:1 (NASB95) 1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

  Don’t be balanced, be biblical. Moderation is a good principle. But in another way it is a cop-out.  You will always find people in better and worse situations. You will always find people more to the left of you and to the right of you on topics. SO DON’T ASK - Am I balanced? Ask - Am I biblical? Does this reflect what God wants in His Holy Word. If you follow the Words of God you will always be walking on the right path.

Another precious and magnificent promise that makes your future bright is: Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.  James 4:8 Come to Him.   Believe the Gospel you’re right with God through Jesus.  Abide in Him in the Word and prayer. As you draw to Him in this way, He promises to draw near to you.  Live close to God this year - draw near!

Another precious and magnificent promise that makes your future bright is: That God’s presence is full of pleasure and delight. At God’s right hand there are pleasures forevermore. There is happiness in many human circumstances. But there is fullness of joy in one place - God’s presence. And finding that, staying there in God’s presence is the secret to daily and eternal delight. AS HENERY STATES: “A pleasure which God himself invites you to, and which will make you happy, truly and eternally happy.”

Who is blessed? Psalm 1 describes this person as sinking their roots deep in God's Word. They bring fruit in every season!
