The ULTIMATE Betrayal #Betrayal #Devotional #BibleReading

There's quite a bit of betrayal in the Bible reading today. The children of Israel betray the Lord, Miriam and Aaron betray Moses. But the ultimate in betrayal comes when Judas kisses Jesus as the sign to take Him and crucify Him.

What really jumped out to me in the reading this year was that Judas suggested the kiss. You have to be at a very deep level of resentment, phoniness, and betrayal to use such a close signal as a way to stab your companion in the back. But Judas was there. Perhaps Satan put that in his mind as a way to try to crush Jesus and His resolve. Perhaps Judas was just that cruel.

In either case, Our Lord asks Judas. "Do you betray me with a kiss?" As in, "You could have done it in so many other ways." The Lord was betrayed greater than any other man. And we must say, "Thank You, Lord for being faithful to me when I have failed you. May my times of unfaithfulness to Your Word and way be so few and may my acts of worship be totally genuine."

Have you been betrayed? Bring those thoughts an feelings of resentment and bitterness to Him. He was tempted as you and was without sin. Allow Him to wash those thoughts away through the glory of the forgiveness of His Gospel.
