How does God smile on you? Moses' priestly prayer of blessing that he encouraged Aaron to pray for Israel, talks about God's smile. Does God smile for you? Of course that is talking about His favor, His good intentions toward us and toward our plans and the stuff of each day. We all want that! So, this is a good prayer for you and for you to take to the Lord for others.

The Lord bless you, and keep you; 

The Lord make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you; 

Consider then who gives the blessing. It is the Priest of Israel, the go-between. Today we have one Priest - One mediator between God and man -- Jesus Christ. So if we want this blessing, we come through Jesus. We recall that only one Person ever was perfectly well-pleasing to the Father, His Son. And so we pray, in Jesus name that the Lord would bless, keep, be gracious, and yes smile on us today because of His Son Jesus. Amen!

The Priestly Blessing

22 Then the Lord said to Moses, 23 “Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing: 

24 ‘May the Lord bless you 

and protect you. 

25 May the Lord smile on you 

and be gracious to you. 

26 May the Lord show you his favor 

and give you his peace.’ 

27 Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them.”

The Three Eclipses of the Bible and What They Mean Our eyes come across three eclipses in the Bible. The first one is when God judged Egypt for mistreating His children. This was one of the ninth of ten plagues... the final one before total rejection. "So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days" (Exodus 10:22). The second is the glorious one when Jesus is on the cross and the wrath of God for our sin is placed on Him. This darkness too lasted three hours. IN this time, God's wrath, the judgment for the sins of humanity was placed upon Jesus and He died in our place. Lloyd Jones and Billy Graham – Association or Separation

I just finished Ian Murray’s biography on Dr. Martyn Lloyd Jones.  His ministry is an inspiration to me.  I love the simple consistency he exhibited and his reliance upon God ordained methods to accomplish God’s purposes. One area I find Lloyd Jones exhibited great wisdom was how he graciously resisted the overwhelming tide of the ecumenism of his day. Dr. Lloyd Jones believed that the ends should not justify the means.  In the 1950’s, ecumenism in England was championed by most Evangelical leaders.  Leaders like J I Packer believed that they were to gain greater respect by association with and dialog within theologically liberal associations.  The hope was to heal the cancerous body from within by being a healthy cell.  His end goal – a more respected evangelical voice. His means – accommodation with theological error.
