Fear Not - Still the Storm, Lord! #Trust #Faith #Devotional

Who is this Jesus!? His disciples cried as Jesus awoke in a life threatening storm and rebuked the wild waves of the sea. They obeyed. He moves on to tame the demon possessed man by commanding the demons from him.

This is our great God, Jesus Christ. And He is still with us to calm our seas and conquer satan's mightiest spirits. With one Word of Christ they cease and are still. So we trust Him and we obey Him. We trust His strength in the storms of life. And we follow the storm tossed sea to follow HIs every word in obedience.

What a joy to know that Jesus controls it all!

"And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, 'Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?' And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, 'Hush, be still.' And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. And He said to them, 'Why are you afraid? How is it that you have no faith'" (Mark 4:37–40)?

Today's Scripture Reading
  • Tuesday Feb 20th - Leviticus 9:7-10:20; Mark 4:26-5:20; Psalm 37:30-40; Proverbs 10:6-7
  • Wednesday Feb 21st - Leviticus 11:1-12:8; Mark 5:21-43; Psalm 38:1-22; Proverbs 10:8-9

As you read the Leviticus portion of today's Bible reading, you are struck with the glory of God's holiness that brings people to have joy in His presence (glory filled the Temple) and yet know that it is sudden death if one mistake is made in His presence (Aaron's sons).

So we are brought in this passage once again to the cross. Jesus came and lived a perfect life in our place. We would all be like Aaron's sons if it were not for Jesus. There is only one Priest holy enough. And now He has brought us near and has given us a union with Him that allows us to serve one another in prayer, based on Jesus' rights before the Father. So let us come boldly through Jesus and ejoy God's holy presence and powerful prayer-filled moments here on earth.
