WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN PEOPLE MISTREAT YOU? My pastor used to say to keep 50:20 vision. And then he would point to Genesis 50:20. In that passage we find Joseph's helpful perspective on #forgiveness

Joseph was betrayed by his brothers and sold as a slave. Because they thought it would be better to get money than kill him. At least he is good for 30 pieces of silver. Fast forward and he is the king of all Egypt and they come groveling for food and favor. HE STATES - YOU MEANT IT FOR EVIL BUT GOD MEANT IT FOR GOOD!-- "But Joseph said to them, 'Do not be afraid, for am I in God’s place? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive. So therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.' So he comforted them and spoke kindly to them" (Genesis 50:19–21). Amazing 50:20 perspective. Trust God through the pain today my friend… And understand that God can even use the way others mistreat you for your Good and for His Good purposes.

Lloyd Jones and Billy Graham – Association or Separation

I just finished Ian Murray’s biography on Dr. Martyn Lloyd Jones.  His ministry is an inspiration to me.  I love the simple consistency he exhibited and his reliance upon God ordained methods to accomplish God’s purposes. One area I find Lloyd Jones exhibited great wisdom was how he graciously resisted the overwhelming tide of the ecumenism of his day. Dr. Lloyd Jones believed that the ends should not justify the means.  In the 1950’s, ecumenism in England was championed by most Evangelical leaders.  Leaders like J I Packer believed that they were to gain greater respect by association with and dialog within theologically liberal associations.  The hope was to heal the cancerous body from within by being a healthy cell.  His end goal – a more respected evangelical voice. His means – accommodation with theological error. The Three Eclipses of the Bible and What They Mean Our eyes come across three eclipses in the Bible. The first one is when God judged Egypt for mistreating His children. This was one of the ninth of ten plagues... the final one before total rejection. "So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days" (Exodus 10:22). The second is the glorious one when Jesus is on the cross and the wrath of God for our sin is placed on Him. This darkness too lasted three hours. IN this time, God's wrath, the judgment for the sins of humanity was placed upon Jesus and He died in our place. "Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour" (Matthew 27:45). The third eclipse mentioned is yet to come.
