Thoughts on Propitiation, Numbers 7:89, and Prayer

The voice of God is found

above the Mercy Seat.

No other place on earth

where man and God may meet.


Propitiation hear.

The cross work has been done.

Where God becomes Father

through sacrifice of Son.


Now everywhere is Heaven.

The veil is torn in two.

Every plot is Eden

for God to walk with you.


Christ has earned our favor.

His blood has brought us near.

The shadow is not needed.

Mercy reigns for ever.


In Christ are all our praises.

Heavens sounds will sing 

blood, cross and glory 

The Lamb of Calvary.


Holiest place is prayer 

On your knees God is there.

Not one spot for just one,

He's offered to everyone.

I was struck today with Numbers 7:89. In chapter 7 there is a long list of the leaders of Israel offering sacrifice. Great men give! But the chapter ends with Moses entering God's place and talking with God. What a privileged this Moses had! He could pray.

"Now when Moses went into the tent of meeting to speak with Him, 

he heard the voice speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the testimony, 

from between the two cherubim, 

so He spoke to him" (Numbers 7:89).

Perhaps the leaders found they could pray too, but Moses could pray like us... an unusual privileged. Well, he almost prayed like us. Now we can enter the inner veil at any time at any place and find the Lord of heaven listening with the love that He has for His only begotten Son. What honor, what privileged we have today! So, give well and pray well my friends = )

The Three Eclipses of the Bible and What They Mean Our eyes come across three eclipses in the Bible. The first one is when God judged Egypt for mistreating His children. This was one of the ninth of ten plagues... the final one before total rejection. "So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days" (Exodus 10:22). The second is the glorious one when Jesus is on the cross and the wrath of God for our sin is placed on Him. This darkness too lasted three hours. Lloyd Jones and Billy Graham – Association or Separation

I just finished Ian Murray’s biography on Dr. Martyn Lloyd Jones.  His ministry is an inspiration to me.  I love the simple consistency he exhibited and his reliance upon God ordained methods to accomplish God’s purposes. One area I find Lloyd Jones exhibited great wisdom was how he graciously resisted the overwhelming tide of the ecumenism of his day. Dr. Lloyd Jones believed that the ends should not justify the means.  In the 1950’s, ecumenism in England was championed by most Evangelical leaders.  Leaders like J I Packer believed that they were to gain greater respect by association with and dialog within theologically liberal associations.  The hope was to heal the cancerous body from within by being a healthy cell.  His end goal – a more respected evangelical voice. His means – accommodation with theological error.
