Baby Announcement - Seth Carey

Praise the Lord for a healthy baby boy!  Seth Carey was born yesterday (May 27th) at 11:50 am.  He was 8 pounds 12 ounces.  Sarah and baby are healthy and doing well.

Name – Seth Carey

Seth - Seth is from Genesis, he is the first son of promise in the Messianic line of our Savior (Genesis 3:15; Luke 3:38).

The flaming sword that guarded Eden's path
Has found its mark, the greatest Son of Seth.
The fallen children's perfect Seed chose wrath
To pluck eternal life for Adam’s race.
By picking for Himself the tree of death
He grants life’s one fulfilling fruit, God's face.

Carey – Carey is the name of one of Sarah and my favorite missionary heroes, William Carey.  He labored tirelessly in the Gospel harvest in India and saw unusual fruit for his ministry in the Word.  He is known as the father of modern missions.

Delivery

Seth was stuck because of the way he was twisted and also because he was wrapped up several places with the umbilical cord (one place tied in a not!).  Although the C Section is not what we had planned, and will mean a longer recovery process for Sarah, we are so thankful for that option.  If that was not an option, delivery would not have been possible.  We were so thankful for an excellent doctor and a kind hospital staff at Jamaica Hospital, less than ten blocks from our house. 


Please keep Sarah in prayer in the recovery process.  And thank the Lord for this miracle of birth.  Thanks!

The Three Eclipses of the Bible and What They Mean Our eyes come across three eclipses in the Bible. The first one is when God judged Egypt for mistreating His children. In Psalm 73, Asaph wrestles with an age long question. Why do wicked people prosper (at times). We do see that, don't we? Perhaps that person at your workplace that cuts corners and harms others and yet they get promoted and paid more. But you are working as you ought and seem to get overlooked, or even let go! This happens in so many areas. Asaph really struggled with this. Then he went to the house of the Lord and remembered that the prosperity of the wicked is truly temporary. Even if it lasts a decade or two. It ends one day. Whereas the blessing the Lord gives - the blessing of life with Him and fullness of joy will last for eternity. So today, GAIN an eternal perspective of GAIN. And rest in the Lord's goodness and provision for today. I love how he ends the Psalm: "Whom have I in heaven but you?
