Baby Announcement - Seth Carey

Praise the Lord for a healthy baby boy!  Seth Carey was born yesterday (May 27th) at 11:50 am.  He was 8 pounds 12 ounces.  Sarah and baby are healthy and doing well.

Name – Seth Carey

Seth - Seth is from Genesis, he is the first son of promise in the Messianic line of our Savior (Genesis 3:15; Luke 3:38).

The flaming sword that guarded Eden's path
Has found its mark, the greatest Son of Seth.
The fallen children's perfect Seed chose wrath
To pluck eternal life for Adam’s race.
By picking for Himself the tree of death
He grants life’s one fulfilling fruit, God's face.

Carey – Carey is the name of one of Sarah and my favorite missionary heroes, William Carey.  He labored tirelessly in the Gospel harvest in India and saw unusual fruit for his ministry in the Word.  He is known as the father of modern missions.

Delivery

Seth was stuck because of the way he was twisted and also because he was wrapped up several places with the umbilical cord (one place tied in a not!).  Although the C Section is not what we had planned, and will mean a longer recovery process for Sarah, we are so thankful for that option.  If that was not an option, delivery would not have been possible.  We were so thankful for an excellent doctor and a kind hospital staff at Jamaica Hospital, less than ten blocks from our house. 


Please keep Sarah in prayer in the recovery process.  And thank the Lord for this miracle of birth.  Thanks!

The Three Eclipses of the Bible and What They Mean Our eyes come across three eclipses in the Bible. The first one is when God judged Egypt for mistreating His children. Lloyd Jones and Billy Graham – Association or Separation

I just finished Ian Murray’s biography on Dr. Martyn Lloyd Jones.  His ministry is an inspiration to me.  I love the simple consistency he exhibited and his reliance upon God ordained methods to accomplish God’s purposes. One area I find Lloyd Jones exhibited great wisdom was how he graciously resisted the overwhelming tide of the ecumenism of his day. Dr. Lloyd Jones believed that the ends should not justify the means.  In the 1950’s, ecumenism in England was championed by most Evangelical leaders.  Leaders like J I Packer believed that they were to gain greater respect by association with and dialog within theologically liberal associations.  The hope was to heal the cancerous body from within by being a healthy cell.  His end goal – a more respected evangelical voice. His means – accommodation with theological error.
